Hello Mortals

Welcome to Underwood and Flinch.Com, home of the free podcast novel 'Underwood and Flinch'. The first time we meet Underwood and Flinch is in the Hall of Mirrors episode, 'Night Crossing' (click the image to connect to the MP3).

The podcast of the novel will begin in January 2009. More than that right now, I cannot say, as I am off to England for Christmas and won't be doing anything podcast related until I return, so if you comment (bite the site) and I don't reply, forgive me, but I'm not here to do so.In the meantime, sign up here (become a vampire) and start racking up your vampire points by biting the site and sending yourself to the heady undead heights of becoming Top Vampire.

Hello Mike,

I can not say how overjoyed I am to know that you are presenting us with a vampire novel (and not a teeny bopper version either!) Nightcrossing was a delight. My ears certainly perked up when I heard the names Underwood and Flinch and the bathroom scene was... simply horrifying... gloriously horrifying... so very Mike Bennett!

I have been a vampire lover for many years and I can't wait to hear what you have in store for us!!!

Episodes

Will this be released in episodes or all at once? One Among the Sleepless was in episodes right? I just found Mike a month ago so OATS was already finished, which was good because it would drive me crazy to have to wait a week for each episode. Now that I am thinking about it, it probably will be in episodes, going from what Mike has said in other Podcast about it I think he has just finished writing it, so now he has to perform it. Right?

If it is in episodes that will be kind of a dilemma for me. On one hand it will suck to have to wait a week for each episode, as I am sure we will be left hanging at a suspenseful moment at the end of each episode, and it will drive me crazy waiting to hear what will happen next. On the other hand I could wait until it is totally finished then I can listen to it straight through, but that means I will have to wait a long time until I can hear it. I highly doubt I will be able to do that, the temptation to listen will be way to strong.

All of this mental anguish could be avoided though if Mike were to have it all finished in January. So I think that is what you should do Mike.

Underwood and Flinch

Night Crossing is an awesome introduction to Underwood and Flinch. With Underwood and Flinch Mike has come up with some very good characters, and I am sure that like the people in OATS Mike will do an awesome job of bringing them to life. I can't wait to get to know Underwood and Flinch better, they seem like such nice people.

Forgive me for not replying sooner but I've been away from the coffin for Christmas. I'm back for a quick bite before nipping off forfurther frolicks over the New Year holiday.

First off, thanks to all of you who have signed up to join the ranks of the undead here at U&F.com. There are a few questions above and I'll quickly respond -

Treed, thanks for the pimpage, I can't give you bite points as the site does it when you post, however, I give you many thanks and a pint of blood from my own veins - with a cherry on top. I'll discuss the possibility of awarding kudos points with Jasonflinch at Admin.

Samual - good news / bad news. Bad news is, I can't deliver the whole book in one go in January because I'm still writing it. Good news is I will be podcasting regular episodes every week to ten days. A cruel wait, but then I'm a cruel man - just look at my picture. You could wait until it is all over, but you'll be waiting until at least August, maybe even December. Yes, U&F is epic in proportion and will hopefully be be leaving blood-thirsty deposits in your inbox through most of 2009.

Spook-child / Ethaniel - Forums? Hmm, I'm going to say no for now because forums will inevitably lead to plot discussions, which I'd prefer to not have around. I know some podcasters like - even encourage - their listeners to influence the direction of their novel-in-progress, but I personally don't fancy that. Instead, Vampires (that's you) will be able to bite the site after each episode and comment away freely and furiously on that which is done and so beyond speculation. Cruel? Again, look at my picture, I am cruelty incarnate ;-) Oh heck, if there's big enough demand, I'll go for forums. We'll see.

A very happy new year to you all, and may 2009 be a year of furious podcasting and site-biting for us all, we un-dead things that should know better but the blood just tastes sooooo good.

Thanks for clearing up some questions Mike. I must have misunderstood something I read on the page about getting points for starting "forum topics". Cool thanks Mike for answering my questions. Yes it will be rough to have to wait for each episode, but since the story will be of epic proportions that makes me feel better, knowing that I wont be running out of fresh Mike Bennett podcast for a long time. I love listening to your stories, they are definitely my favorite in the way the are written, in they way they are performed, and in the overall type and style of the stories. The delectable blood soaked morsel of Underwood and Flinch you gave us in the Hall of Mirrors, has my mouth watering in anticipation of devouring the bountiful and gory feast that we will soon be served.

I never would've guessed the new book would go this direction. Thanks to many, many piss-awful vampire films/books/etc..., I've been rather turned off about the subject for some time, but this one sounds good.

BTW, I don't know if I've ever mentioned this or not, but Mike's podcasts are the ONLY ones where I don't skip the beginning & end commentary to get to the story.

The beginning and end is half the fun. It's like listening to the radio at a time when your favorite disc jockey is on: You may love the music, but the commentary between songs makes you fell... I dunno... at home!

Waffling etc

Thanks chaps, I sometimes wonder what on Earth I'm going to talk about when it comes to beginning and ending bits and so I have a tendency to waffle on about any old nonsense. However, this is something I'm going to try to cut from the story podcasts and keep to the bulletins. And on that note, I'm going to post a bulletin in the next day or so, then U&F episode one no later than Monday.
