Hey Mike!!

It has been awhile since I have left a post (don't know why) but I have been definitely keeping up with the story.  I wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing and what a Kick-Ass story you have been telling.  I absolutely Love it!! I wait in total anticipation for each episode.  This is by far the best Vampire novel since Bram Stoker's Dracula (I have to give props to the original).  I have read all of the popular Vampire novel and Underwood and Flinch is the best.  Plus the total bonus, you do an incredible job telling it.  It never ceases to amaze me that you do it all yourself.  When I am listening I totally forget that it is just you reading it, and not a whole cast of actors, because every character totally comes alive, well not every one ;) but you know what I mean.  Anyway I could go on and on about everything I love about Underwood and Flinch and your audio drama performing ability, but I don't want to sound too sappy.

One more thing though Please, Please DO NOT kill, destroy whatever Underwood.  DO NOT DO IT for any reason!!  It would be devastating.  Underwood is just way too awesome to be destroyed.  Kill David if you have too ;)

Anyway keep up the Great Work Mike and Thank You for this awesome story!

Thanks, Sam

Thanks, Sam. It's feedback like that that keeps the tiger in my tank. Very happy to hear you're enjoying the show so far, and also that you support a paperback of part one. The more I think about the idea, the more I think it's a winner. If nothing else, a book in the physical world - even one that ends with the dreaded phrase 'to be continued' is a very valuable marketing tool.

As for the fate of the cast, I cannot possibly tell you what awaits them - some twenty or so episodes further on. You'll just have to stay subscribed and see what happens ;-)

Thanks again

Mike

Another Great One

I feel you did great with how you've carefully and with great pacing, led to the pathos in these character's lives. I'm really looking forward to see how you are going to connect this story line to Underwood's. Thanks Mike!

Thanks, Paco. I'm glad you think so. I really enjoy the sub-plot of Keith and Michelle etc. For me, it's the One Among the Sleepless element of the story, and I love doing characters like these. Laughing

Bestowed, eh?

I like that Underwood can control who becomes a vampire and who doesn't.  It raises the marvelous question of how Underwood came to be a vampire himself, and whether he's yet used his power to bestow (and what's happened to those new vampires since then, if so).  Of course, I haven't listened to 19 yet.  (grin)

Oh, if Underwood ever chose to visit the US of A and decided to bestow his gift to a certain someone, the new vampire might look a bit like this:

Now that would be an interesting listen!

Hi Doug. Ahh, yes. Underwood has bestowed it, all right, though not on your President (at least not yet ... maybe if he joined The Sect?)

The Theme

Hi again Mike, I just listened to 19 again and realized how much Amad Amma is a part of the novel. We all have had many good things to say about your work but, I don't recall that any mention of Farid Farjad's song and how well it fits your story. It's sweet, sad and haunting. How did you come across it?

Farid Farjad

Hi Paco.

I'm so glad to hear you like the music. Before the podcast began I spent months (seriously, MONTHS) searching the Internet trying to find the right piece of music for U&F. I scoured every podsafe music website there is and I just couldn't find anything appropriate. Then one night, while searching through the 'world music' category at Ioda Promonet, I stumbled upon Farid. I knew immediately that I'd found not just the right piece of music, but quite possibly the most perfect piece of music I could have found. As you say, it's sweet, sad and haunting. It hearkens to distant places and distant times, and it's also incredibly beautiful; sometimes i find myself wiping away a tear just listening to it and remembering with Underwood's mind (if you see what I mean) his life. I wanted a piece of music that would evoke the life of a man who has roamed the world for centuries - centuries filled with friends, companions, lovers, foes, battles, triumphs and tragedies - all past and gone, the only continuity being the family line of Flinch. That's why I used it, and that's why i love it so much. For me, it's as much a part of the podcast as any of the characters.

Mike, I really enjoyed reading about your thoughts behind the choice of using Farid Farjad's music for your podcast. I too, like Paco, marvel at how perfectly this piece fits the story. It's so plaintive and haunting. It also seems to me that it sounds very vaguely reminiscent of gypsy music in some way, which reminds me of those old black and white vampire movies set in Eastern Europe.

Nice Episode Mike

So here my friend, you get the short short version.  Well done Mike.  Tits!

The long version...

Listening to this latest episode of Underwood and Flinch, I am yet again reminded of why I find both your writing and your presentation to be so gripping.  Here we have the secondary storyline, with no underwood, no flinch, and no real violence of any kind, unless of course, you include the poor demise of a couple of tee mugs...  And yet it held...   Held our collective hands as you meandered through the intricate web of characters, held our noses, as you introduced us to the wonders of pickled eggs, and held our feet to the fire with your empassioned delivery of the confrontation between husband and wife.  "The dead cannot forgive..."  Classic, absolutely classic.

Though it will forever be in the shadow of the Lord Underwood, it was overall quite the epic and herculean effort.  My hat is off to you sir!

Great episode Mike, I just know the whole Russian mafia thread is going to end with a lot of spilled blood!

Would be great if U&F ended up published, I'd pre-order mine now!

Thanks all ...

Very happy to know Episode 19 refreshed the parts, even though U&F were amiss. Episode 20 is now well underway and is coming together nicely.
