OK, so by now the episode is due and a few of you are probably checking in here to see if there's any sign of it. I've been working on the text for ages and now the first draft is finally done. It's taken a long time to write because it's very difficult material and there's a lot of it. I don't think it's going to need a great deal of work because I edited as I went (sometimes I just hammer out pages in a stream-of-consciousness, other times I go slowly - this time I went slowly). The text is twice the page-count of a usual episode, so Episode 21 should be more-or-less about an hour in length. I'm going to do the final editing tomorrow and then begin recording.
If I'm lucky I'll get a first audio draft of the whole thing done. Then it's editing and re-takes for a couple of days, then I'll post. So it's looking like a weekend delivery. I can't say when for sure, it depends on the day job and all the other variables that strew our paths with obstructions and place spanners in our works.
I apologise for the delay. But like the song says, you can't hurry love. On the up side, I think the wait will be worth it: it's a killer episode. I thank you for your patience :-)

Okay, I tried to not wonder, but I have continually failed. It looks like you are thanking Mike for the new saying, which is "ass on a stick." What I don't see is where Mike said "ass on a stick." Please, save me from my confusion!

I think Mike's comment actually contained the phrase " head on a stick". I'm surprised Das Moderator missed that one, and for that reason I'll refrain from commenting on the origins of " a** on a stick " . Can't wait for the season finale and Part 1 in print.

Lydia said something was "an arse on a stick" about 6 episodes ago: Something wasn't X, it was an arse on a stick. I can't remember what that was though. I'll check tomorrow and get back to you. I'll look in-between bouts of screaming at the computer. (Tomorrow is going to be spent sitting screaming at the computer ... Not because it uses Microsoft Windows, but because I'll be recording and there's going to be a lot of screaming going on).

Post-weekend, no-update blues.
Where is our new episode, Mike? And don't go using that tired old "I've provided you with hours upon hours of free entertainment, owe you nothing, and am a real human being with feelings and a life outside my usefulness to you" excuse. We know you're really just a novel-writing robot hooked up to an unusually versatile gramophone.
Update II
The edited audio of the episode is now 35 minutes long. I hope to get through the remaining hour of multiple-takes, coughs from doing harsh voices and general flubs later today. I expect the final product to weigh-in at about an hour in length and be ready to publish tomorrow evening. I'll update again later tonight.
Update III
OK, I've been at it for hours this afternoon and I'm almost there. I've got a couple more re-takes to do, then brief bumpers, music and upload tomorrow night. I won't be including any chat at the end because that will only put things back another night or two, instead I'll make a special episode later that will feature Q&A etc and plans for the future of the U&F podcast.

Update IV
Okay, calm down, angry mob. After a four-hour editing session, the finale is almost ready. There were lines I was fiddling with right up to the last minute; I was waking up in the middle of the night and scribbling things down last night, writing on the back of my hand in class today, and finally, I put it all together tonight. It's an hour long and it's a thing of beauty ... but I still need to listen to it all the way through with headphones on to ensure there are no mouth noises (ssip, tup, shluck, buh, phho, tut, tik, fhip etc), flubs, repeats, or too-long beats in between people speaking. Then I have to layer the music and put on the ID3 tags etc, and then it's finished. This will take a couple of hours and, regrettably, I'm just too damn shagged to do it tonight. I'll do it tomorrow and it will, I give you my word, be live tomorrow night.
