screaming

That episode was really exciting and well worth the wait, but you weren't kidding when you talked about all the screaming and yelling that you had to do while recording it. I don't know how your voice held up through all that! You picked a great spot at which to hoist your literary cleaver and split the book. I will certainly be eager for the second half. Well done Mike!

Edited choking

Thanks, Spook Child. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. There was a lot of edited-out choking and sputtering I can tell you. I got quite hoarse at one stage. Fortunately the neighbours didn't complain - I tried to do most of the screaming when they were out ;-)

Thoughts

Hey, wait a minute, didn't you promise no martial arts?

Kidding aside, I appreciate all the work you put into this. I hope you enjoy making it at least half as much as I enjoy listening.

Great season finale! Clearly,

Great season finale! Clearly, Underwood wouldn't have survived for centuries if he'd been easy to put down...

WOW

Trillianne's picture

Wow, what a finale!!!! Loved this episode and yet a little sad that part one has come to an end, how can we thank you enough Mike for all the time and effort you put in to each and every episode. Loved the twist with this one and can't wait to hear in part two where it will lead, I really didn't see it coming but that is what I always loved about your casts.
Take care and come back to us refreshed.

Great end to part 1. I am liking Underwood more and more, he is a true British gentleman who just happens to be a vampire as well.

Roll on part 2.

Twisted

Paco's picture

You are really twisted! And I mean that in the best sense Mike ;-D Talk about twists and turns! I really think you nailed the "flow" of the fight scene and now I see why you took your time with the production. It must have been draining to perform and I can't help thinking that there must have been some hilarious bloopers along the way :-> You've done great and hope you enjoy your much deserved hiatus. Muchas gracias Mike!

Bloopers

Trillianne's picture

Oh bloopers, we haven't had a bloopers show in a while, how about it Mike? Can we have a giggle at these (I'm sure you had a giggle with them)

Re: Bloopers

Actually most of the episode outtakes were of coughing etc; doing John's hoarse tones and then following it all with all the screaming and shouting, I was almost hoarse myself by the end of it. But I'll see if I can find a few gaffes here and there from the last few episodes (God knows there have been plenty).

Best yet?

Thanks for a great episode Mike, not entirely sure it isn't the best you've written, it certainly comes close!
Can't wait for Part 2 to start, didn't you say that a lot of that is written already and will come out more quickly?

The Rest

Mike's picture

Hi Rich.

Yes, a lot of it is written, but how much of it will make it into the final mix is uncertain. A lot of scenes that happened in Part One, were not there in the original draft of the book, they came into being as I was doing the re-writes for the podcast. Their existence affects the events of Part Two in many ways and requires large areas of Part Two to be re-written. In fact, I'll be re-writing about 70% of it over the coming months. The core events and the ending will not be changed, but new scenes, characters, dialogue and action have to be penned to make the whole thing flow seamlessly.

How frequently episodes will come in the future is a question for Nostradamus ;-)

Hi Mike

Been away...my life has gone through more changes than David Flinch's in the last 6 months...but the one constant has been U&F! so thanks for that Mike...

thought the last episode was not only the best U&F but also ran close to being as good as Wayne in bondage!

looking forward to the start of seaon two...my own writing may progress now i have the distraction of U&F removed! :-)

Long time listener, first time poster...

Mike, I've emailed you in the past about how much I appreciate the excellent production effort you put into your podcast episodes, but U&F in general, and episode 21 specifically, are simply outstanding. Thank you very much for sharing your work. You truly are a gifted wordsmith.

I really look forward to the continuation of U&F.

Thanks and Happy New Year in advance. :-)

Thanks ...

... make that many thanks :-)

It's great to know you're enjoying the show so far. I'm working on the Q&A episode, then I'm back to serious U&F (I confess, I've been taking a break to pursue other interests these past few days ;-)

Its about time i commented on

inkster's picture

Its about time i commented on the story itself, i found it gripping, amusing and chilling at the same time. You did not fall into the same trap many authors do by skipping all over the place much.

The story flowed well, and left a lot of options for the next season. All in all i cant fault the story apart from the fact season 1 is over.

Congratulations on a brilliant podcast
