Episode 24 Uncut

This uncut version Underwood and Flinch Episode 24 contains the 'Red Room' scene I cut from the final version of Ep 24. I did this because despite warnings of adult content at the start of the podcast, I still get email from time to time from people who say they like my stuff but find the swearing, violence, sex - and of course the ritual satanic sex and murder orgies, a bit too much. So this scene (Miguel in the Red Room) which most of you may find unremarkable, was cut for their benefit. It will not be available in the main feed.

I don't think the scene actually adds a great deal to the story and the book works perfectly well without it, so accusations of 'gratuitous' sex and violence would, in this case, be fair enough. However, for all of those of you who, despite the boundaries of good taste and judgement, want to peek inside the Red Room, here it is.

I hope you enjoy it - but not too much ;-)

I felt inclined to comment on this, but I am stuck on where to start. So instead let me present a quote from a fictitious comedy movie.

" Oh yes, the rain thing. I like the rain but if you could take the water out of it then it wouldn't be so wet . Get on with that straight away, will you? There's a good chap, yes. Thank you....."

I'm loving Part 2 so far and thanks for the access to the Red Room.

Very Decent

...of you to take the time and issue a "softer" version along with the original one. I for one feel that the unedited one does contribute more to the character development of who these people are and so, even though it might not add a great deal to the story, it defines those involved in the "nastiness" much better. All in all, this shows how much you respect us as a varied group. As to the next episodes... keep them coming (pun intended) ;-D

Great episode !  I very much appreciate access to the "Red Room" .  I think it gave great dimension to Lydia, Miguel, and all of her vampire wanna-be pals.  I've always liked - and thought in important- that you don't portray these folks as cute and cuddly fun-loving ghouls,  and although the scene wasn't critical to the storyline - it sure added some nice flavor to their characters !  Although I think it's lovely that you posted a "clean-cut", the leading advisory is there for a reason - so PLEASE continue to provide us keys to future "red-rooms" !  I can't imagine what it takes to write and produce these episodes, and you do a brilliant job.  Thank you !

Insight

Thanks Lesa. I'm really happy to hear that the uncut episode episode worked for you. It does bring that little extra insight into Lydia and her Black Circle cronies, and I promise that any further 'cut' episodes will always have an 'uncut' version available here. Though hopefully there won't be any more, as from here on, all the goods should be served up into the main feed Laughing

Excellent!

Thank you for a great episode (as usual)! For some reason (possibly the fact that I entered adolescence in the 1980s), I tend to picture Lord Underwood as similar in appearance to Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon) in Fright Night. Keep up the good work!

He was a great vampire, wasn't he? I loved Fright Night, and still have a copy which I watch now and again. It's a proper vampire yarn, and very much of the ilk that inspired U&F. As for appearances, whatever works for you, works best. I try to keep descriptions to basic brush strokes because I feel (at least based on my own reading habits) we tend to paint-in whatever character appearances work best with our own imaginations. As long as you're not seeing a short, fat, balding guy (like I do every time I look in the mirror) you're in more or less the right ball park.
